WPT Gears for 4 Year Anniversary

The Watson Poker Tour has officially announced its campaign for their 4 year anniversary show coming August 13, 2006. After a season high rating boost from last week's show, the WPT looks to capitalize and continue its strong growth.

"We were excited about the ratings, but at what cost? Last week, there were tons of drama. Rumors have surfaced about the Teach and several others but no one in the executive branch has been able to locate him. He has full control of the league and we are on pins and needles waiting to here from him concerning the league. We aren't even sure if the league will continue but we can't take that chance with our 4 year anniversary coming up. This is an important time for the WPT and we hope the season will continue," stated a WPT official.

With the whereabouts of Teach unknown and his executive decisions unclear, WatsonPokerTour.com has uncovered some information reagarding major things that are underway in the planning of the 4 year anniversary game. Because we cannot confirm, we will not comment at this time. Calls to Teach have been unreturned and a voice message only says, "ARE YOU READY?"

WPT Responds To Dogg Fan Website; Bounty Week For #4

The Watson Poker Tour has come full circle regarding the matter of the new website created by the "Dogg Fan." CEO of the WPT Mr. Teach has sent a full press release regarding the issue.

"I think the Dog Fan has nothing to cry about. He rants and raves over our scoring system, yet gripes that we don't use the one that was originally instated by the WPT in the early years. In fact, it is the opposite. Back in the old days, first place received the number of particpants x 2 which means that we are following our old scoring rules. He has been misinformed and knows nothing about what we use to be like. I think the scoring system he is referring to is giving an automatic 50 points to the winner regardless of the field size. In that case, he THEN would be in the lead but because we use or OLD system, he finds himself in fourth where he should be," stated Teach.

"As far as the other stuff on the website, that is up to the viewers to decide. As a matter of fact, I will step up and say that if we cleared the board for the final 6 weeks, I would no doubt finish ahead of him. I am willing to bet on it...the entire WPT league management. If he finishes ahead, then we play by his rules next season and I merely work for him. However, if he finishes behind me, then he must wear a shirt that says "Mrs. B is a better poker player than me" for the entire season, along with "JHAR is the greatest" on the back of that shirt since he is surely not going to win that bet either. I look forward to hearing his response," stated Teach.
In other news, the WPT is in full swing as it returns to the Navajo Dome after a 4 season absence. There is a bounty for week #4. Will Dog get the last laugh or will we be sizing him up for next season?

War Drums On The Horizon!

For the first time since Season 4, the Watson Poker Tour will officially make their way back to The Navajo Dome for event #4 of the season. The move by the WPT seems to try and counter the low ratings they are receiving for their league play. And with "Dog Fan" on the loose, what could possibly happen?

"We are extremely excited about playing back at the Navajo Dome. Its been 5 seasons since we have played a points game so this is extremely important to the Watson Poker Tour. Last week, we received confirmation through smoke signals and have confirmed that the WPT will be placing their feet on sacred ground on July 9, 2006. And to make things interesting, a BOUNTY is in place for this tourament," stated a WPT official.

In other news, CEO of the WPT Teach has yet to make a statement concerning "Dog Fan" and the controversy surrounding the standings currently in the WPT. Rumors have already surfaced about a new website that is yet to be seen by the public,, but word is that the WPT and its lawyers are currently looking over the site for anything malicious. Who is the "Dog Fan" and what could become of this?

Fans Outraged Over Rankings; FNL Tops WPT Ratings For First Time

The Watson Poker Tour is under intense fire as the rankings have been updated for this month. The Flamingo Dogg, who has won 2 of the 3 regular season tournaments, finds himself ranked 4th under WPT ranking rules. Many fans have cried foul and have threatened to boycott the televised events. It seems that the results have caused a decline in the ratings of WPT TV as Friday Night Lights has taken over the spotlight.

"What an outrage! I have won 2 of the first 3 tournaments and find myself in fourth place? If this doesn't get resolved soon, then I'mmmm outta here!" cried the Flamingo Dogg.

"We are very concerned but it seems that the people ahead of Mr. Dogg have been more consistent. He has had one bad tournament and that has affected his standings. His not showing up for bonus week really hurt him, too," stated a WPT official.

Signs are already pointing to a decline as the ratings for this month see WPT's Friday Night Lights as the new #1 ranked show on Tour. Last week, viewers watched Mr. Teach verbally assault Lenny and Big Daddy's refusal to chop made for a great show. Willis's 1837 rebuys set an all time record for the show as well. FNL's ratings are steadily increasing mounting the question..is the WPT officially over not half way during the season? Stay tuned for more.

More OG's Signed For Season 9

The Watson Poker Tour is about to get a little more interesting. Following the news of JHAR's victory, WPT officials have confirmed that more OG's will be showing up for the Grade Prix de Easterly Lakes tournament coming in April. It is apparent that the league is finally gearing up to bring down the Deer Hunters and run them out of the league once and for all.

"We can't say who we have signed, but we just confirmed an appearance by a Season 1 original. We searched long for this lost player and after our talks, a contract was signed," stated one of the WPT officials. Rumor has it that the Flamingo Dogg will return in April alongside Gremlin. What we don't know if HBK will set foot on WPT territory or if Willis Hawkins will return as well. But we do know that the secret signed OG ISN'T one of them.

"It's all about ratings and getting our league back," stated Teach. "We have desperately tried to find the right blend of players to counter anything that the DHC can bring. We were shocked to see Grandpa OG Kirby back for the Bonus Week. It made us proud so I made a few phone calls. Things are about to heat up."

We can't confirm the signing although we have been told he is from Season 1. How will the DHC counter this new OG attack? Stay tuned to find out.

Curse Broken! JHAR Takes Season Opener!

After nearly three seasons, the Watson Poker Tour can finally rest easy now that JHAR has qualified for the tournament of champions. JHAR returned for Season 9 and to the surprise of many managed to take down the opener and send a stern message to the Deer Hunters....The OG WPT'ers are letting them get their way this season.

With much anticipation, the WPT opened its door on Season 9 at the Mingo with several old schoolers returning to battle. Teach, JHAR, Bartman, Goat, El Diablo, Dick00, and even Ole Man Kirby rattled the attention of the league sending a shrill up the spines of the Deer Hunters. However, it was JHAR who would get the victory and one up the DHC to start Season 9.

With new blind structures and antes, the WPT pulled off one of the greatest tournaments. More poker was played and few bad beats occurred marking one of the few times a game has gone smoothly. However, the WPT promises the return of HBK, Flamingo, Gremlin, and Billy The Kid next month when they roll into the Viper Pit.

Tournament officials hailed the response of fans and the tournament in general. A great time for all. But where in the hell is the 2 time champion GP? Will Corona reappear this season? Will Bama "Roll On?" And will we see a foreigner from the Queen's Nation make an appearance. So many questions to answer in the next installment of the WPT.

Season 9 Begins Sunday

All is quiet on the homefront of the Watson Poker Tour. But come Sunday, all hell is sure to break loose when Season 9 officially begins. Starting at 1:45 pm at the Mingo, players will once again compete for the crown, except this time, the rules have changed and the players are playing for much bigger stakes.

WPT Officials have promised a new rejuvenated season this time around. Much of their hopes relies solely on bringing back some of the original members from the league. Could it be possible to have Gremlin, Bartman, Teach, Flamingo, JHAR, 6-8-6, Billy The Kid, Bama, Bubba, Lenny, Iceman, Dick-O, and dare we say HBK all in one place? Rumors have been swirling on who will actually show and who wont. We can't get a judgement this week because we can confirm that one of these will not make the bonus week, but will be part of Season 9.

There are also new changes. New scoring rules have been put into play and breakdowns will go back to RETRO ways. Speaking of Retro, we have confirmed that it will occur.

All of this is happening in the wake of the DHC. They have been silent as of late but you can rest assured they have a plan. Stay tuned for more info.
