After a season high rating boost from last week's show, the WPT looks to capitalize and continue its strong growth.

"We were excited about the ratings, but at what cost? Last week, there were tons of drama. Rumors have surfaced about the Teach and several others but no one in the executive branch has been able to locate him. He has full control of the league and we are on pins and needles waiting to here from him concerning the league. We aren't even sure if the league will continue but we can't take that chance with our 4 year anniversary coming up. This is an important time for the WPT and we hope the season will continue," stated a WPT official.

With the whereabouts of Teach unknown and his executive decisions unclear, WatsonPokerTour.com has uncovered some information reagarding major things that are underway in the planning of the 4 year anniversary game. Because we cannot confirm, we will not comment at this time. Calls to Teach have been unreturned and a voice message only says, "ARE YOU READY?"

WPT Responds To Dogg Fan Website; Bounty Week For #4

The Watson Poker Tour has come full circle regarding the matter of the new website created by the "Dogg Fan." CEO of the WPT Mr. Teach has sent a full press release regarding the issue.

"I think the Dog Fan has nothing to cry about. He rants and raves over our scoring system, yet gripes that we don't use the one that was originally instated by the WPT in the early years. In fact, it is the opposite. Back in the old days, first place received the number of particpants x 2 which means that we are following our old scoring rules. He has been misinformed and knows nothing about what we use to be like. I think the scoring system he is referring to is giving an automatic 50 points to the winner regardless of the field size. In that case, he THEN would be in the lead but because we use or OLD system, he finds himself in fourth where he should be," stated Teach.

"As far as the other stuff on the website, that is up to the viewers to decide. As a matter of fact, I will step up and say that if we cleared the board for the final 6 weeks, I would no doubt finish ahead of him. I am willing to bet on it...the entire WPT league management. If he finishes ahead, then we play by his rules next season and I merely work for him. However, if he finishes behind me, then he must wear a shirt that says "Mrs. B is a better poker player than me" for the entire season, along with "JHAR is the greatest" on the back of that shirt since he is surely not going to win that bet either. I look forward to hearing his response," stated Teach.
In other news, the WPT is in full swing as it returns to the Navajo Dome after a 4 season absence. There is a bounty for week #4. Will Dog get the last laugh or will we be sizing him up for next season?

War Drums On The Horizon!

For the first time since Season 4, the Watson Poker Tour will officially make their way back to The Navajo Dome for event #4 of the season. The move by the WPT seems to try and counter the low ratings they are receiving for their league play. And with "Dog Fan" on the loose, what could possibly happen?

"We are extremely excited about playing back at the Navajo Dome. Its been 5 seasons since we have played a points game so this is extremely important to the Watson Poker Tour. Last week, we received confirmation through smoke signals and have confirmed that the WPT will be placing their feet on sacred ground on July 9, 2006. And to make things interesting, a BOUNTY is in place for this tourament," stated a WPT official.

In other news, CEO of the WPT Teach has yet to make a statement concerning "Dog Fan" and the controversy surrounding the standings currently in the WPT. Rumors have already surfaced about a new website that is yet to be seen by the public,, but word is that the WPT and its lawyers are currently looking over the site for anything malicious. The Flamingo Dogg, who has won 2 of the 3 regular season tournaments, finds himself ranked 4th under WPT ranking rules. Many fans have cried foul and have threatened to boycott the televised events. It seems that the results have caused a decline in the ratings of WPT TV as Friday Night Lights has taken over the spotlight.

"What an outrage! I have won 2 of the first 3 tournaments and find myself in fourth place? If this doesn't get resolved soon, then I'mmmm outta here!" cried the Flamingo Dogg.

"We are very concerned but it seems that the people ahead of Mr. Dogg have been more consistent. He has had one bad tournament and that has affected his standings. His not showing up for bonus week really hurt him, too," stated a WPT official.

Signs are already pointing to a decline as the ratings for this month see WPT's Friday Night Lights as the new #1 ranked show on Tour. Last week, viewers watched Mr. Teach verbally assault Lenny and Big Daddy's refusal to chop made for a great show. Willis's 1837 rebuys set an all time record for the show as well. FNL's ratings are steadily increasing mounting the question..is the WPT officially over not half way during the season? Stay tuned for more.

More OG's Signed For Season 9

The Watson Poker Tour is about to get a little more interesting. Following the news of JHAR's victory, WPT officials have confirmed that more OG's will be showing up for the Grade Prix de Easterly Lakes tournament coming in April. It is apparent that the league is finally gearing up to bring down the Deer Hunters and run them out of the league once and for all.

"We can't say who we have signed, but we just confirmed an appearance by a Season 1 original. We searched long for this lost player and after our talks, a contract was signed," stated one of the WPT officials. Rumor has it that the Flamingo Dogg will return in April alongside Gremlin. What we don't know if HBK will set foot on WPT territory or if Willis Hawkins will return as well. But we do know that the secret signed OG ISN'T one of them.

"It's all about ratings and getting our league back," stated Teach. "We have desperately tried to find the right blend of players to counter anything that the DHC can bring. We were shocked to see Grandpa OG Kirby back for the Bonus Week. It made us proud so I made a few phone calls. Things are about to heat up."

We can't confirm the signing although we have been told he is from Season 1. How will the DHC counter this new OG attack? Stay tuned to find out.

Curse Broken! JHAR Takes Season Opener!

After nearly three seasons, the Watson Poker Tour can finally rest easy now that JHAR has qualified for the tournament of champions. JHAR returned for Season 9 and to the surprise of many managed to take down the opener and send a stern message to the Deer Hunters....The OG WPT'ers are letting them get their way this season.

With much anticipation, the WPT opened its door on Season 9 at the Mingo with several old schoolers returning to battle. Teach, JHAR, Bartman, Goat, El Diablo, Dick00, and even Ole Man Kirby rattled the attention of the league sending a shrill up the spines of the Deer Hunters. However, it was JHAR who would get the victory and one up the DHC to start Season 9.

With new blind structures and antes, the WPT pulled off one of the greatest tournaments. More poker was played and few bad beats occurred marking one of the few times a game has gone smoothly. However, the WPT promises the return of HBK, Flamingo, Gremlin, and Billy The Kid next month when they roll into the Viper Pit.

Tournament officials hailed the response of fans and the tournament in general. A great time for all. But where in the hell is the 2 time champion GP? Will Corona reappear this season? Will Bama "Roll On?" And will we see a foreigner from the Queen's Nation make an appearance. So many questions to answer in the next installment of the WPT.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://watsonpokertour.blogspot.com/2006/03/curse-broken-jhar-takes-season-opener.html' title='Curse Broken! But come Sunday, all hell is sure to break loose when Season 9 officially begins. Starting at 1:45 pm at the Mingo, players will once again compete for the crown, except this time, the rules have changed and the players are playing for much bigger stakes.

WPT Officials have promised a new rejuvenated season this time around. Much of their hopes relies solely on bringing back some of the original members from the league. Could it be possible to have Gremlin, Bartman, Teach, Flamingo, JHAR, 6-8-6, Billy The Kid, Bama, Bubba, Lenny, Iceman, Dick-O, and dare we say HBK all in one place? Rumors have been swirling on who will actually show and who wont. We can't get a judgement this week because we can confirm that one of these will not make the bonus week, but will be part of Season 9.

There are also new changes. New scoring rules have been put into play and breakdowns will go back to RETRO ways. Speaking of Retro, we have confirmed that it will occur.

All of this is happening in the wake of the DHC. They have been silent as of late but you can rest assured they have a plan. With the ratings down to an all time low due to the torrential turmoil that the Deer Hunters have wreaked, shares tumbled and the public seems to be all but finished with the WPT without any drama. But because of this, several key casinos have taken advantage to use this to help them secure a spot in season 9 if there is one.

One of the earliest bids for the WPT comes from the owners of the Flamingo. Bubbie C has secured several shares of the WPT and hopes to bring back Season 9 at the Flamingo for at least one more season. "This is the place where the WPT should be held because here is where the last three seasons has come down to the last week. Now that's drama. Plus, this is where the SHOWER is and if you dont know what I am talking about, then you are better off not knowing," stated the owner of the Mingo.

With the Flamingo taking control, another outside source saw a chance to make a comeback on the Watson Poker Tour. Owners of the original HARRAHSiS Casino and Resort has also secured a stake in the WPT in hopes to bring back the superstars that once laid claim to this casino. "This is where the WPT began its ascent into stardom. So many players have come through these doors and so many great games have happened here. This is where the videos were shot and this is where the WPT belongs," stated one official from HARRAHSiS.

And it doesn't stop there. Just before we broke this news, a third party has claimed rights to the WPT. Viper Inc has bolstered onto the scene and now owns 1/3 of all WPT shares in hopes to bring a new face to the tour. "Let's face it. All of these casinos are here because of one reason...The Watson Poker Tour. We felt like we needed to give something back, including our full confidence in hopes of bringing the WPT back for a season 9 and start fresh with a brand new casino," stated a Viper Pit executive.

With the wheels now turning, it is going to be interesting to see if the emergence of these three casinos make a difference to bring back a season 9.

The Watson Poker Tour has taken cheap shots over the years but none more prevalent than the latest rant from the Great White Pope and the University of Southside. GWP has promised a bombshell to rid the WPT of traffic if his sorry team didn't make headlines on the main page after their upset win over the Eagles. We are here to say to Pope, or better known as Robo-Pope after that goofy ass picture, JUST BRING IT!

"Does he not realize that Willis threw the game so there would be an incredible game 3 next week? Willis understands its all about ratings but wanted to make sure that Game 3 had some hype. He definitely let Southside win game 2," stated a WPT reporter. "We aren't going to say anything else about them because the headlines speaks for itself."

In other news, this latest tirade by the GWP has brought interest from the unknown whereabouts of some WPT originals. In fact, we have confirmed that several WPT superstars will attempt a comeback just to shut the Deer Hunters up for a season. We know Thurgood already owns 50% of the boards but total control of the WPT is unknown since several casinos are competing for Season 9..if there is one.

We wrap it up by saying congratulations to Corona for winning the TOC and Mr. Teach sending crybaby Pope to showers during the game. Its obvious that the Deer Hunters are starting to look mortal against some of the older superstars of the WPT. Could we be leading into a confrontation? GP watched Mark B. get knocked out leaving him the title with 8 players left. Earlier, GP sent Jeff G. packing on the river and making us all wonder if GP is the greatest WPT player ever? With two season championships under his belt, a rookie of the year title, and just missing another championship by 1 point, can anyone stop him and will he be the final champion of the Watson Poker Tour?

Amidst the season, the television ratings for the WPT dropped severely under the control of the Deer Hunters. The list of people they have exited include: Flamingo Dogg - AWOL, JHAR - ran out of town, Gremlin - MIA, 686 - whereabouts unknown, Mr. Teach - running scared, T2 - ousted, Lenny L - rivered, HBK - mouth taped shut! However, with the mass exodus of these superstars, we are beginning to wonder if the WPT can survive without them? It seems that the fans want them back, but can they ever be brought back? With the Deer Hunters in control, the answer is no. However, rumor has it that several stockholders in the WPT are calling for the return of these superstars to help take down these Deer Hunters and bring back the league they so desperately miss. There was no RETRO week, there was no controversy, and more importantly, there were no fights. However, we are being told that a meeting is underway to bring back Mr. Teach in hopes he can turn this league back around.

"We have met with Mr. Teach and he seems interested," stated a WPT executive. "However, we were told that the only he will come back is under his terms and ONLY his terms. We are in current negotiations now and things don't look good for a season 9."

What ever happened to "You're OUTTA here?" Will we ever see WPT Retro Night again? What about "What tha FRICK?" All of these questions are still unknown. It might be months or it might be days before we know anything. Stay tuned for more details.

Eagles Soar

All eyes were on The "U" last night as the Great White Pope's Buccaneers were set to defend their home court against the underdog Eagles under the command of Willis Hawkins. With technical fouls, personal fouls, questionable calls, and an undeterred amount of intestinal fortitude, the Eagles prevailed with a swarming defense. In the end, the Burgundy Sweater is taken back to the city of Watson.

The action was hot and heavy and to the surprise of many, the Eagles were without star gaurd "Enzo." Without Enzo, the Eagles were considered not to have a chance. Both teams entered with one loss, but more importantly, both were undefeated in district play. The winner would sit alone at the top at the halfway point, while the loser would have to wait nearly three weeks to get their chance again at the Burgundy Sweater.

Pope-A-Leenee's defense was as solid as a rock but a technical foul got the momentum on the Eagles side. The Eagles fought hard enough to hold the high scoring Bucs to an all time low of 11 points for the entire game. The Eagles were victorious 15-11.

"Outstanding!" stated Hawkins. "We didnt need steroids, we didnt have to curve our grades, we just played BETTER basketball. It wasn't pretty but we won and thats all that matters. The Burgundy Sweater will take precedence in the gym tomorrow and will be here when those FEMA working Buccaneers come to the Nest for revenge."

We tried desperately to get a comment from the Great White Pope, but he shoved our reporters out of the way. All we can confirm is that there is a news conference tomorrow morning at the "U" at a possible firing after this embarrassing game. Get your tickets early because in three weeks, these guys will square off again at the Nest.

GAME ON!!

The Watson Poker Tour enters Week #11 tonight and who really cares? The National Football League playoffs are this weekend! So what? With several key matchups happening this week, they have all taken a backstage for what is going to happen on Tuesday, January 17 at 5:00 pm at The "U"" when the Great White Pope takes on 686 in the "Battle for the Burgundy Sweater."

These two coaches have jawed all season long and Tuesday, its time to pay the piper for one of these coaches. The Great White Pope has had tremendous success with his 7th grade team and 686 is 2-1 on the season with his team. Neither coach has played against each other in this division. Tickets for the event have been sod out for nearly two months.

This game has huge implications. The winner...a cool two weeks of verbal bashing on the site. The loser...well, they will not be tolerated and banned from posting. It is rumored that the LO Coaching staff will unvail their new "Bobby Knight" sweaters for this game. The GWP, amidst controversy of grade scandals and steriod abuse by his players, will be ready for next week. It's the matchup that everyone has been anticipating and it all goes down Tuesday!

No..Sleep...Till Tunica!!

The Watson Poker Tour earlier this morning sent two of their best cash and tournament players to Tunica for the next three weeks to see if they could bring home some gold back to the Tour. Smoke and B.I.L. left this morning in hopes of gaining a prestigious title and to become more famous than they already are.

Early reports have the full WPT backing them, and in a huge turn of events, Teach has emerged from hiding and will also be heading to Tunica this weekend. Along for the ride will be the Great White Pope and Big Daddy. There are also numerous reports that Thurgood could arrive at the WPT convention as well.

What this means is that some sort of truce has possible been made and a deal struck between Teach and the Dear Hunters. We cannot confirm this but why else would they be meeting in such a remote place such as Tunica? Could this be a trap against Teach, or will the truce begin with talks about a Season 9?
Finally, the WPT is heading into Week #11 with a tight race. Jeff G. leads the points race over Steve-O and GP with Mark B. and JJDude close behind. The Cowarts are closing in, but it could be too late. Stay tuned for breaking news on this meeting between the Deer Hunters and Mr. Teach as they both try to reconcile their differences and bring peace back to the league.

The Race Is On

The Watson Poker Tour is now gaining momentum at its most crucial time. With ratings slumping nearly two weeks ago, a surge of viewership has emerged as a new website was revealed. The last episode of JHAR spiked an all time high for viewers and it seemed that GP would be poised for his second title run being nearly 40 points ahead of the competition. One thing GP has managed to avoid is bad beats early in tournaments. However, in Week 10, with the title easily in his grasp, GP managed to get knocked out first and sent the standings into turmoil and viewership back up on tour.

Jeff G. is now your first place leader after the pivotal week 10 tournament. Again, the champion has always led after Week 10 but this new point movement has really shocked the viewers of how easily it could have changed. GP hit the doors early after his AA was knocked out by 99 AND 66 for the side pot. That left the door open for JJDude, Jeff G., Steve-O all to play catch up. And they did. Not only did they catch, Jeff G. now holds first place with Steve-O, Mark B., and JJDude not far behind. And don't look now but the Cowarts aren't far behind. What is surprising is that the Great White Pope, who had thought that GP couldn't lose the title, did not show up which now has cost him the league title.

In other news, the fans are now speaking out about several issues on tour and if there will be a Season 9. The ratings are now shifting to the side shows of Friday Night Lights and WPT South. With two weeks left in the season, players and fans are wondering what will be next for the WPT, if at all.

Week #10 Is The Crystal Ball

There have been many trends on the Watson Poker Tour throughout its run, but none more prevelant than Week #10. Week 10 has provided an early glimpse of every champion to date, and if this holds true, then you can go ahead and start etching GP's name on the Watson Poker Tour Cup.

The Tour has had many races but it has always been the leader after Week 10 to bring home the championship. Again, if GP manages to win this season, he will become only the second person ever to win 2 championships on the WPT.

Few players can catch him at this point. Mark B., JJDude, and Steve-O are the only legitimate contenders. Could GP slip up and allow one of these players to catch him?

"Absolutely not," stated Teach in an undisclosed location. "GP was 1 point away two seasons ago from winning and because he didn't have patience, it cost him. Because of this mistake, there's just no way he's gonna lose this championship." When asked about GP possibly claiming his second title to tie him, Teach responded, "Well I guess I'm gonna have to win another one."
We weren't sure of that last statement, but we do know that Teach and several other lost souls of the WPT have been spotted on the Ranchero down South. Tonight, WPT South takes action and we hope to have an interview and to find out where JHAR possibly might be!

JHAR Calls It Quits!

In one of the most shocking moments ever on the long running series of the Watson Poker Tour, the last remaining original of Season 1 has finally called it quits. The man known as "JHAR" walked out of the Watson Poker Tour after positioning himself to possibly win his first WPT title in his career. The mood around the WPT is at a loss for words, but what has this signaled for the future of the WPT?

One of the WPT's most successful characters has given up on the WPT and has left the building. JHAR, who has no doubt been the most consistent player in the history of the WPT dropped his cards last week and vowed never to return for a while. This comes as a shock as JHAR was again in the top 5 win this announcement was made.

JHAR has been with the WPT since its inception nearly three years ago but has yet to hold up the one thing that should have been his...the Watson Poker Tour Championship. JHAR has led nearly every season but has come up short in the end, which has been the monkey on his back for his entire career on the WPT. Finally, JHAR has had enough.

With the disappearance of JHAR, the ousting of Teach, the shaving of Willis, the unknown location of Raydogg, the silence of Gremlin, the derailment of the Big Daddy Express, and the lost verbal abuse from HBK, people are beginning to wonder where the WPT is headed. The Deer Hunters have now seized full control of the league with no original WPT superstar in town. What was once a colorful league of characters has fallen victim to an iron-fisted clan of rogue bandits. With only three weeks left in season 8, we are all beginning to wonder if there will be a season 9?

Big Daddy Express To Roll Into Town This Thursday!

WPT - The Watson Poker Tour has officially gotten word that the Big Daddy Express will mark his return to the Watson Poker Tour this Thursday night at the Mingo. It has been rumored that Teach is trying to gather momentum against the Deer Hunters and make sure the league doesn't go into shambles. It has been confirmed that Big Daddy is under contract from Teach and he has one goal in mind - To take out ANY Deer Hunter is his way.

Teach made a lack luster return to the WPT, but it was rumored that he was there just to scout out what the Deer Hunters were actually doing. Being place at a table with 4 Deer Hunters was just what he was looking for.

"My whereabouts are unknown at this time, but I am putting together a great team to come back and take over what is rightfully ours. It may not be this season, but you can gaurantee that I will return and take back this league," stated Teach.

Big Daddy could not be reached for comment but it is ALL ABOARD as the Big Daddy Express hits the Watson Poker Tour this Thursday.

WPT Makes History!

The Watson Poker Tour reached new heights last week as history was made on several fronts. After 7 seasons and over 500 tournaments played by the WPT, the Watson Poker Tour officially crowned a woman champion in Mrs. B. If that wasn't enough, she ousted Keisha in the finals for the first women's finals in WPT history.

If that wasn't enough, there were fireworks early on between The Cowart of the County Big Bad Booty Bubbie and an "unknown" assailant trying to get into the WPT.
